Jesse has been a student of mine since 2004 when he arrived in Australia. He was one of my training and sparring partners while he and I were both fighting on the same local cards prior to my signing with the UFC.
He’s one of my longest active students. I’ve cornered him for amateur BJJ competitions, his professional fights, and have awarded him his black shirt (black belt equivalent) in Muay Thai Kickboxing as well as his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
I consider him to be an exceptional martial artist and believe he could have gone far had he continued to pursue MMA professionally.
Jesse has been a student of mine since he arrived in Australia in 2004. I’ve been one of his primary instructors across mixed martial arts including Thai kickboxing, wrestling, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
His interest has always been focused on mixed martial arts where I cornered him for his professional fights with Cage Fighting Championships. He was even around during the latter period of my UFC career assisting me with fight preparation for my opponents such as Michael Bisping.
I actually gave him his nickname “The Lake” and even arranged UFC ring announcer Bruce Buffer to do his personal voicemail which he used for a number of years.
I can speak of his martial arts ability having been responsible for many of the techniques he knows today.

Jesse joined us at Boxing Works around 2009 when he moved into the Sydney CBD.
He was with us for 3-4 years before moving overseas.
He already arrived with a great aptitude for martial arts and I had the opportunity
to work with him privately on numerous occasions.
I’m glad I could assist in further developing his wrestling game, and provide him with a different perspective on grappling.
I wouldn’t hesitate in taking the opportunity to train and learn from him.
Jesse was put in touch with me through Elvis Sinosic in 2018 when he relocated to Newcastle and was looking for a place to train.
He’s very well rounded bringing experience from the many gyms he’s been part of. He quickly became a respected member of our team for his BJJ and MMA experience.
He’s become a great teacher, and treats all members with the respect required to help build a team.

Prior to refereeing with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), I officiated for a number of MMA promotions which included the fights of Jesse Landry. He’s been involved with the Machado BJJ, and MMA scene for a long time.

I was lucky enough to have Jess as one of my main sparring partners back in my competitive MMA days. He always combined great striking with excellent grappling skills and has since developed into a superb coach.
I highly recommend training with him if you get the chance.

I worked with Jesse a lot during his time at Boxing Works Sydney.
He was no longer competing but was still very active, rolling and sparring with other fighters at the gym.
We developed quite a good friendship having done innumerable rounds of grappling and stand up together.
Honestly, he was a phenomenal help to myself and others, delivered with the epitome of professionalism.
I wouldn’t hesitate in taking the opportunity to learn from him.

Coach Jess has a great knowledge and experience in all styles of mixed martial arts.
He is technically sound in all disciplines and his style of coaching makes for a great culture, where all the training partners are top people with no egos.
Jesse can accommodate for all levels of striking, wrestling and grappling and I always look forward to stepping onto the mats.

“I met Jesse when he began training at our Richmond gym in West London in 2012. He was with us for a few years before returning to Australia.
The gym was an affiliate of Grappling Fight Team (GFT), and Head Instructor Gabriel Rainho would come in and roll with us on a semi-regular basis.
We were both purple belts at the time and Jesse would alternate his days rolling with me and sparring with the boxers and MMA guys including Chase Morton who would go on to sign with Bellator MMA.
Jess always played a grinding, top heavy game designed to wear you out, and I suspect his methods haven’t changed.”

Jess was one of my training partners at both the SPMA and Team Perosh gyms while I was living in Sydney in 2016 and 2017. I was a brown belt in BJJ during this time. Jess would always challenge me during training. His good nature and vibrant personality made class not only challenging but a lot of fun too. I will definitely visit Jess for a training session when I’m in the area.
